Rob Walker’s Consumed piece in the NYT today explores creatives and their fascination (or inspiration) regarding presidential candidates. A very low-key website featured is www.barackobamaisyournewbicycle.com (no idea what bicycles have to do with it).
When you go to the website, simple clicks on the large text take you through a series of nice things the candidate has done for you (maybe true for a handful of people). Example: “Barack Obama helped you move a sofa.” He’s also bookmarked your website, poured you a cup of coffee and sang happy birthday on your voice mail.
There are position papers, debates and exchanges. Then there are human emotions and connections. Each one counts.
