Nike Everywhere

Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. Nike is both.

Consider this past weekend’s bounty:

  • Relentless ad rotations of the new Sparq (association in part with Velocity Sports Performance Centers) that create buzz without ever showing the gear.
  • Prominent Nike swoosh placement on the winner’s yellow jersey at the Paris-Nice professional bike race, even though Nike is not marketing 2008 cycling shoes or cycling apparel lines. Only 16 items remain on clearance.
  • Tiger Woods ties Ben Hogan’s career victory total, winning at Bay Hill on the 18th hole, thanks to a putt made with a competitor’s club. Woods always uses a Titleist Scotty Cameron with Ping grip (white logo paint scratched out). But people will remember him throwing down his Nike cap in utter excitement.

Appearing to be everywhere when you’re not makes you more than good.

It makes you damn good.
