Seth Godin had a wonderful post today. He first wrote the words four years ago. They’re as true today as they were then. The leave-behind is simple: What are you doing to be great?
In uncertain times, it might feel harder to aim higher. Safe is accepted, hunkering down a standard corporate reflex.
But if you follow this way of herd mentality, remember that plenty of other people — and companies — will push beyond established comfort zones. Almost anyone can be bold when the economy is rosy; fewer people can leap into the unknown when things seem a bit wobbly.
As this year ends, do you know your own personal steps you’ll need to improve, to be memorable, to be great in 2008?
Now’s the time to write it all down and start doing what it takes.
